A manual gives you more control when driving down hills, an automatic more control going up. There hasn't been any difference in fuel mileage in 20 years. Other than that there is no advantage to owning a manual and a lot of disadvantages. And that is enough reason if it is important to you. You buy a manual because you enjoy stirring the stick when you drive.
